Congratulations go out to coach Keith Rolle and the Temple Christian High School junior boys basketball team who won the basketball championship over Queen’s College on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Kendall G. L. Isaacs gymnasium.
School Board Chairman Rev. Dr. Vaughan L. Cash, in meeting with the boys during a special team visit at his office, noted that the boys actually “made history at Temple Christian in winning our first basketball championship.” Dr. Cash thanked Coach Rolle and the team for all their hard work. Coach Rolle indicated that “at least three of the players on the team should get an invitation to try out for the junior national basketball team tryouts – a testament to how good they are.”
What was particularly amazing was that the boys went undefeated for the entire season, ending the regular season with a perfect 11-0 record. In the playoffs, the boys defeated St. John’s College by a score of 45-35 to advance to the championship. In the finals, they swept aside the Comets of Queen’s College in a best of 3 series winning in two straight games, the score in the final game being 39-35.
We are very proud of our boys, and look forward to seeing them excel both academically and athletically in the future. Go Suns!
