Keandra Munroe’s “Parkinsonians: People who move change the world!” won first place in the junior division at the Sixth Annual Speech Competion hosted by the National Kingdor Parkinson Foundation on Sunday, November 27, 2016.

Interested students at Temple Christian High School were invited to submit speeches for the annual speech competition. The English Department then selected the school’s best presenters to participate in the preliminary round of the competition held on November 13, 2016, success at which would enable them to compete for prizes in the finals.

Participation in the National Kingdor Parkinson Foundation’s Speech Competition reflects Temple Christian’s commitment to increasing the opportunities available for students to hone their communication skills through specialized opportunities in the Drama Club, as well as in debate, essay and poetry competitions. For her efforts in winning the junior division, Keandra won an HP Laptop.

Munroe, 13, is an 8th grade student of Temple Christian High School. She plans pursue a career in pediatric medicine. She is the daughter of Kino and Chandra Munroe of Nassau.
Trevanna Rolle won third place in the junior division finals of the National Kingdor Parkinson Foundation’s speech competition. Rolle is no stranger to the Foundation’s speech competition. She previously advanced through the preliminary round of the competition, and made it to the finals of the competition in 2015.

Rolle is a student in grade 8 at Temple Christian High School, and graduated as salutatorian from Temple Christian Elementary School. Rolle, 13, is a Temple Christian School Scholarship Recipient, an honor student, and a member of the Music Club. She plans pursue a career in pediatric cardiology. She is the daughter of Trevor and Susanna Rolle of Nassau.

We give special thanks to their coach, Ms. Claudette Thompson, for the guidance and preparation she has afforded our students. Congratulations to both students and Ms. Thompson on a job well done.
