Congratulations are extended to Mrs. Melissa Pearson, head of the Family and Consumer Sciences department at Temple Christian High School, who was recently conferred with the Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Her program of study was completed at the Northern Caribbean University on August 9, 2015. “My experience in this program will benefit the students currently enrolled in the Family and Consumer Science program since my thesis focused on ‘The Relevance of the High School Food and Nutrition Curriculum in Preparing Graduates for Employment Opportunities in The Bahamian Food Service Industry.’ This experience will also help me to collaborate with administration and the guidance department to give students an opportunity to attend work experience programs so that there can be collaboration between the school and food service industry. This degree has also helped me to be more efficient in the execution of the curriculum in the classroom.” We are very proud of Mrs. Pearson’s latest accomplishment, and wish her the very best as she now applies what she has learned both in her own classes and within those of her department.
