Principal Cunningham Appointed to Executive Board of the BAISS 11/20/2014 TCS congratulates Mr. Cunningham on being appointed Vice President of the BAISS

Mr. Perry R. Cunningham, the Principal of Temple Christian High School for the past two years, was recently appointed to the Executive Board of the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS).

The Executive Board, according to Mr. Cunningham, “basically carries out the policies and lead in the overall functions and activities.” Getting his new title of Vice President of the BAISS, therefore, has thrust him into the forefront of that organization’s agenda. Principal Cunningham has been a hard working and committed member of the BAISS for 18 years, and so his installation was a logical development.

Describing his feelings as “humbled” after being appointed to his new position, Principal Cunningham stated with a smile, “The fact that my colleagues would select me as Vice President basically reposed their confidence in my ability to be their Vice President.” He added that he was overwhelmed with humility particularly because he did not apply for a post on the Executive Board. “I think the decision was made because of my many years of being a principal,” he said.

Prior to being elevated to this new post in the BAISS, Principal Cunningham held positions working on “few of the committees.” He modestly stated, “I also was a former president of the Association.”
As a result of his new position on the BAISS’ Executive Board, Mr. Cunningham feels that he will make a difference in the BAISS in terms of “continued growth and development of the association.” His goal is not only to contribute to making an overall difference but to “further the cause of private secondary education in The Bahamas.”
