New Administrator appointed at Temple Christian School 9/3/2014 TCS announces Dr. Samuel Rutherford as Administrator

 

Dr. Samuel Louis Rutherford earned his bachelor of arts in biology with honors from Vassar College, and served as Dean of Students for the latter 3 of the 9 years spent at Kingsway Academy.  He is a Lyford Cay, Vassar, and Armstrong scholar and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1997.  From 1997 - 2003, he served as a head coach at the Bahamas Football Association’s National Center of Excellence, which was followed by an appointment as a National Coaching Instructor for the Bahamas Football Association and as the 2006 FIFA World Cup Assistant Coach for the Bahamas Senior Men’s National Soccer Team.  For the following six years he served as a player evaluator and member of the technical training staff of the Coastal Georgia Soccer Association, a Southern Soccer Academy Club located in Savannah, Georgia. 

 

After completing a master of education in curriculum and instruction in 2009 at Armstrong Atlantic State University, he became a teacher leader in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) college readiness system at Jenkins High School in Savannah, Georgia.  There he served on the school’s AVID site team, and was voted the 2014 Herschel V. Jenkins Teacher of the Year.  For several years during this period, he conducted research on the lived experiences of students in the program at his school, culminating in the attainment of the doctor of education degree in leadership from Valdosta State University.  Today, Dr. Rutherford lives in Nassau, Bahamas with his wife Dekira, and two sons – Dylan and Davian.
