Matthew Chandler chosen to represent Temple Christian School at the 2017 Primary School Student of the Year Award
Eleven year old Matthew Chandler has emerged as the sixth grade student selected to represent Temple Christian School at the 2017 Primary School Student of the Year Awards. Matthew is the school’s Head Boy, participates in track and field, and volunteers with the Special Olympics. We took the time to chat with Matthew, and ask him about his thoughts concerning the upcoming competition.
How do you feel about being selected as the Temple Christian School Primary School Student of the Year nominee?
It’s a wonderful experience and I will love to represent my school in the competition.”
You are also the head boy. What has the year been like for you so far?
"It's been a great experience so far, and I hope to have many more wonderful experiences in my life."
Please share a little bit about your experiences at Temple Christian School.
“I’ve been here about 9 years. The teachers are very good and they help us if we don’t understand. And, they are very excellent helpers with us.”
What are some of the extracurricular activities that you’re involved in?
“I’m in track and field. It’s very fun, but sometimes practice can be grueling and swimming. Swimming is very nice because it keeps you calm and relaxed, and Special Olympics, it can help you to give back to the community.
What are some of your career plans?
“I plan to become a doctor in the medical field.”
Describe your relationship with God.
My relationship with God is very strong because I think as Christians, we should always have God in our hearts and try to get to heaven.
What would you say to other students who may aspire to be nominated for primary school student of the year in the future?
“Follow your dreams and don’t be scared to represent your school.”
